Cyden's Angry Bird Cake

This was a cute little birthday party for a child who loves Angry Birds.  His favorite bird is the black bomb bird so we created a 3D sculpted black bomb bird cake.  The cake is a gluten free chocolate cake with chocolate fudge and covered in fondant.  Along with that we also made fresh crunchy caramel popcorn with sprinkles to go with his birthday cake.  Caramel popcorn & gluten free cakes is some thing we do as a special order when requested but we are putting together specifics to make it available to every one.  We will keep you posted once we launch our caramel sprinkled popcorn & gluten free cake!

Happy birthday to Cyden!

Simple Ivory Cake

Here are two examples of two simple ivory cakes we did.  With different icing borders at the base of each tier to give it a little character and with that you could always add beautiful fresh flowers or just a cake topper to keep it simple.  These are 3 tier square wedding cakes covered with ivory colored fondant.

Bronwen Weber & 3D Seahorse

Meet Bronwen Weber and her husband, Francois Long.

Bronwen is a a former pastry chef instructor from Texas and multi award winner from cake decorating shows, such as The Food Network Challenge.  You may have seen her on Food Network Challenge: Lion King Themed Challenge, which she won!  Bronwen is also an owner of Frosted Art Bakery & Studio.  One of the best things is she travels time to time and brings with her the knowledge she has gained from over 20 years of experience and teaches other pastry chefs and cake decorators how to do different cake decorating techniques.  Fortunately I had the honor of attending one of her cake classes while she visited the Big Island.  It's amazing how many techniques are out there for decorating and baking cakes, it's endless!  So I thought I would share with you all one of the things we created in her class, which is a 3D sculpted seahorse.  It was so much fun as the people who attended shared there passion and Bronwen was very sweet and a very great instructor.

Below is the Seahorse I carved and molded before it was colored.

A Visit To Jean Philippe Patisserie

When I went to Las Vegas I was so excited to try out a few bakeries that were located with in the strip.  Just by chance while strolling around the Bellagio I was surprised to see in front of me displayed several beautiful cakes several feet above head.  It was the display that attracted me to try out some of the delicious treats in the bakery.  Once I arrived standing behind a long line of people, I realized that not only was it a bakery but it was a cafe.  They had a variety of sandwiches, salads, gelato and coffee.  I tried the cajun shrimp salad, pastrami sandwich and raspberry macaroon which was very delicious!  Every thing in there from the food to the treats were all wonderfully displayed.  If you haven't heard of Jean Philippe he is a very successful pastry chef and has accomplished so many things that I could just go on forever about it.  If you would like to learn more about Jean Philippe Maury CLICK HERE.  His place is called "Jean Philippe Patisserie" and it's located in the Bellagio at 3740 Las Vegas Blvd South.
If you are ever in the area I recommend visiting this place, you will not be disappointed!
Here are a few pictures I was able to get off of my phone, unfortunately I didn't bring my camera so the picture quality isn't that great.

Owl Themed Birthday Cake & Cuppycakes

This order was for a special girl named, Alena who turned one year old.  The mother wanted an owl themed cake with cuppycakes and wanted us to design some thing that would match the party supplies she bought.  So we came up with this design as you see below in the pictures.  The cake is a 6" round Orange Dream with Cream Cheese filling.  And the cuppycakes are Lilikoi, Mango, and Guava flavored topped with our signature vanilla frosting swirl.  And that's not it!  We hand made little sugar owls, birdies, and hearts to compliment the cuppycakes. I must say this was one of our funnest cake and cuppycakes made.  By the way do you notice the fancy cupcake liners?!  I m so excited to introduce to you our new line of cupcake liners!  Check back in on our blog as I will be posting all about it!
